California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones issued an Emergency Declaration providing safeguards for policyholders residing or owning property located in disaster areas declared by Acting Governor Gavin Newsom on November 8, 2018 which include Butte, Lassen, Los Angeles, Mendocino, Solano, and Ventura counties.
Aflac has enacted a premium grace period from November 8, 2018 – January 8, 2019 to allow policyholders the time needed to resume premium payments.
For Aflac’s Illinois policyholders affected by recent severe storms:
To help provide relief for Illinois policyholders affected by recent severe storms, Aflac will implement a suspension of cancellations and non-renewals for the Department of Insurance prescribed period, which is Nov. 23, 2018, through Jan. 23, 2019. Aflac will also implement an extension for any and all policy provisions or other requirements that impose a time limit for an insured or claimant to perform any act (claims submission, proof of loss, reporting of information, payment of funds, etc). This extension shall be for a minimum of 60 days from last date allowed under the terms of the policy, or longer based on reasonable circumstances. Aflac will also consider other exceptions to policy or contract requirements or underwriting rules, when such requirements are not met as a result of the disaster.
